Celebrating World Read Aloud Day

Some little people in Durban joined millions around the world to celebrate the power of reading aloud with the twelfth annual World Read Aloud Day on February 3, 2021.

World Read Aloud Day (WRAD)  happens annually on February 5. The day is focused on bringing awareness to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories and to advocate for literacy as a human right. WRAD was created in 2010 by LitWorld, a nonprofit believing in the power of reading.

Shirley Dickinson read stories to the delight of the children at the Premier’s Office and then there was plenty more reading at Umgababa.

Today was also the Nal’ibali Linda Zama Foundation launch of Reading for Understanding and Story Telling Program . It coincided with World Read Aloud Day. It is one of our 2021 Programs.
